Rhino-NR Cutter

(U.S.A. Patent No.: US 6,561,286)

DESCRIPTION:
The GTL Rhino-NR Centralizer is a flow activated, non-rotating, three-bladed, robust, short tool.

APPLICATION:
Designed to be run whenever the operation requires the passage of the BHA through a nipple or restriction, and then out into a larger diameter pipe, to centralize the BHA.
The Rhino can be run above or below the PDM, or in tandem with one above and one below PDM for maximum centralization.
The GTL Rhino-NR can be run on conventional rigs, HWO or CTU
with PDM.

ADVANTAGES:
• Increased cutting performance
• Increased milling performance
• Increased on-bottom time
• Increased fishing performance
• Deployment of bridge plugs
• Tubing end locator
• Increased impact tool performance

OPERATION:
The GTL Rhino-NR is a fluid activated tool so it is not recommended pumping while RIH.
The Rhino-NR top connection, drive shaft and bottom connection rotates with the PDM or drilling string. On the OD and in the center of the GTL Rhino-NR is a sleeve, which does not rotate. This sleeve sits on two bearing packs allowing the Rhino-NR’s main body to rotate freely while the sleeve remains stationary. Three expandable blades are attached to the sleeve and the blades, centralizing the BHA firmly against the tubing or casing ID, without reducing the torque capability of the PDM or drill string.
As the flow increases pressure is transferred through the Rhino bore to an internal piston inside the top connection, driving an external cam which opens the blades, and at the same time allowing sufficient flow to pass through the tool to operate the GTL complementary Barracuda and TPRT tools for milling, cutting, and scale removal applications.

For suggested running (operating) guideline for the Rhino-NR on a rotary rig or a coil tubing unit, contact you closest GTL representative.
